HORIZON AIR SUMMER SERIES ANNOUNCES ALL- SERIES BASEBALL HONORS
The Humboldt Crabs were rewarded for capturing the Horizon Air Summer Series McCullough Division Championship as Jeff Giacomini was named HASS Player of the Year and Manager Matt Nutter was tabbed for HASS Manager of the Year recognition. University of Arizona junior Grayson Adams, who pitched for the Yuba Sutter Gold Sox, was named as the 2007 HASS Pitcher of the Year.
Giacomini, a junior first baseman from Sacramento State University lead the Crabs with a .402 average with 6 HR’s, 51 RBI’s and a .580 slugging average. His efforts earned him a First Team selection at first base.
Adams, a junior right hand pitcher from the University of Arizona was a key member of the Gold Sox staff during the 2007 season. He lead the club to a 27-13 Summer Series record in which he went 8-1 with a .074 ERA and 80 K’s in 72.2 innings of work.
In 2007 Nutter guided the Crab’s to their first Horizon Air Summer Series Championship. The club captured the McCullough Division with a 29-11 Series record and 42-12 overall.
The Horizon Air Summer Series is a unique eleven-week long competition among elite college summer wood bat baseball clubs from the Western United States . Fulfilling a mission of keen competition, the Horizon Air Summer Series crosses collegiate league boundaries to form a "league of leagues".
